Ball of mistletoe and ice crystals with satin ribbon hanger.
Mistletoe grows as a parasite on other trees, and from the earliest of times has been one of the most magical, mysterious and sacred plants of European folklore. It was associated with many folklore customs and was also considered a bestower of life and fertility and a protection against poison. It was gathered at both mid-summer and winter solstices, and the ancient custom of hanging mistletoe from the ceiling at Christmas and exchanging kisses under it as a sign of friendship and goodwill still survives from those earlier times.
