Internally handpainted glass ornament featuring the female Australian King Parrot - Alisterus scapularis. These large, long-tailed parrots usually fly in small flocks often perching on high dead branches above the forest canopy.  The male parrot's head, breast and underparts are red, with a bright green back and dark blue tail.  Found in rainforest, eucalypt woodland, orchards and parks in eastern Australia from Cooktown, Queensland to Otway Range, Victoria, they feed mainly in trees on green seeds and fruits. This beautiful glass ornament is painted on the inside in the ancient traditions of an art form prized by collectors internationally.  The artist uses miniature curved and bent-shafted brushes and handpaints every minute detail on the interior of the ornament, through an opening at the top.  The entire process takes up to two days.  No two pieces are identical, making each piece a keepsake to be treasured from generation to generation.  As each ball is individually hand painted, background colours and other details may vary from image shown. 75mm diameter
