Handpainted Australian Waratah Standing Tile Handcrafted and handpainted highly glazed standing tile featuring the Australian Waratah.  The Waratah is the floral emblem of the State of New South Wales, and bears large globe-like red flowers on tall stems.  Its striking red and green colouring adds a traditional touch in Australian festive floral decorations.  Each tile with a quality velvet backing may be hung and also has a retractable arm to allow it to free stand.  Each tile comes packaged in its own presentation box. This decorative tile has been designed in Australia, and is handcrafted in a technique known as tri-colour glazed artware which originated in the Tang Dynasty.  Each tile is unique and is handpainted and fired with brilliantly colourful and complex glazes.  The artistic process of handpainting and glazing takes many hours, after which each tile is kiln fired for 24 hours at temperatures reaching 1000 degrees Celsius (1800 Fahrenheit), immortalizing the artist's design in stone.   Size:  200mm x 200mm
