Handcrafted and handpainted highly glazed standing tile featuring the Koala, one of Australia's favourite furry friends. 'Koala' is an aboriginal word meaning 'never drinks', as it gets its water mostly from eucalypt leaves. Each tile may be hung and also has a retractable arm to allow it to free stand. This decorative tile has been designed in Australia, and is handcrafted in a technique known as tri-colour glazed artware which originated in the Tang Dynasty. Each tile is unique and is handpainted and fired with brilliantly colourful and complex glazes. The artistic process of handpainting and glazing takes many hours, after which each tile is kiln fired for 24 hours at temperatures reaching 1000 degrees Celsius (1800 Fahrenheit), immortalizing the artist's design in stone.
